How to Fit the Freedom No-Pull Harness (and make sure you have the right size)

by Alisha Navarro 17 Jun 2025

A well-fitted harness can be the difference between a peaceful walk and your dog pulling a disappearing act. Too loose, and it rubs or slips off. Too tight, and it’s uncomfortable — even harmful.

Finding the right fit matters — for your dog's comfort, your peace of mind, and those smoother, pull-free walks you're dreaming about.

That’s why the Freedom No-Pull Harness is designed with both performance and comfort in mind. It features:

  • Four points of adjustment for a truly custom fit

  • A Swiss velvet lining on the chest strap to help prevent rubbing and chafing

  • Durable stainless steel hardware

  • Proudly made in North Carolina

  • And yes — it even comes with a chewing warranty (learn more about that here)

This isn’t your average harness. So let’s make sure it fits your dog just right.

Step 1:  Measure your dog

Every brand fits a little different or has different size ranges, so we recommend that you specifically measure your dog.  Measure your dog and reference the size charts on this page or watch the video below.

Step 2:  How the Freedom No-Pull Harness should fit.

The Freedom Harness is designed to be snug and secure without being tight. Here’s what to look for once it’s on:

  • You should be able to fit two fingers (no more, no less) between the straps and your dog.

  • The chest ring (front clip) should sit high on the chest, not down by the legs.

  • The harness shouldn’t shift, rotate, or sag — it should stay centered on your dog’s body.

Pro tip: If your dog suddenly resists walks or hates putting the harness on, it might be the fit — not the walk or the harness.

Step 3:  Signs the fit isn't right

Watch your dog and the harness for these common red flags:

  • They can back out or escape the harness

  • The straps rub under their armpits

  • You notice bald spots or hair loss where the harness sits

  • The chest strap loosens during walks

  • The harness rotates off-center on their back

Whether you're upgrading your walk gear or helping your dog learn better leash manners, the Freedom No-Pull Harness is a game-changer plus it is available in 19 colors and a whole bunch of patterns!
